Leaky gut syndrome is the result of many factors. One of which is poor diet. Poor diet consists of foods that lack nutritional content and foods and beverages that are known irritants. These irritants are alcohol and caffeine. So if you can, try to avoid those. The foods that lack nutritional content and are overall unhealthy are, junk foods, processed foods, dirty or contaminated food and water and foods that contain excessive amounts of sugar.

Other causes of leaky gut are drugs and medicines. Some of which are antacids, NSAIDs (non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen), steroids and antibiotics. NSAIDs cause irritation and inflammation to the intestines. It also prevents the body from healing the intestines naturally if it is damaged in any way.

Usage of antibiotics is also a cause of leaky gut because of it’s nasty side effects. It can unintentionally help the overgrowth of yeast in the intestines because it also kills off the beneficial bacteria that prevent the overgrowth. You can read more about antibiotics here.

These causes of leaky gut can easily be prevented. All you have to do is adopt a healthy lifestyle. Adopting a healthy lifestyle will work wonders for you and help prevent other disorders and diseases, not just leaky gut.
